Could you introduce yourself?

Sure! I'm Rosa, 23 year old lady from Finland. My life is all about people close to me, makeup, look/style related things, tattoos, burlesque and everything fierce. My blood is black and I shit glitter.

What’s your life philosophy? How do you try to apply that to your work?

Be yourself. Always. Do what you love, look how you want to. There's always someone who'll dislike or hate what you do or how you look but those people don't matter. You will also attract right people in your life by being yourself which makes everything 10 times better! This is something I'm very passionate about and I hope it shows and I always try to encourage people to be themselves. Tho if you're an total asshole, then change.

Could you tell us what you think makes you stand apart on the internet?

Can't think of any other reason than being myself. I've heard quite many times that I have unique style or that I have that something which makes me stand apart. I know there's a lot of people with colored hair, black clothing and bold makeup but still, for some reason I seem to interest people. And I'm very grateful for that as "having your own thing" is something I value a lot.

How would you describe your style? Do you feel like it reflects you as a person?

I get this question from time to time and I never know how to answer. It's black on black, has to look good to my eyes and neat & polished makeup with cold-toned purple hair. If I use some color, it's on summertime and it's brightly colored dress or something. Go big or go home.

How do you feel you've grown as a creative individual since people started taking notice of your work? How does it feel to have so many look up to you? Has it changed you?

It hasn't changed me at all but I think I appreciate my work a little bit more. I've always been very hard on myself and still am, but I've started to question my thoughts - if I had no idea what I was doing, would all these people really follow me? I can't get the idea of "people looking up to me" in my head and I'm still surprised when someone tells me that. It's one of the biggest compliments I can think of because style is my passion and if someone looks up to me because of that - wow.

If you had to choose 5 beauty products you had to use for the rest of your life what would they be and why?

I hatee this question tho 5 is better than just 1 haha. Well: moisturizer, some kind of powderfoundation, taupe eyeshadow, eyeliner, eye lashes. With these I could do my everyday makeup! But I really do hope I won't be in this kinda situation, ever.

If you had to choose any music album that captures the emotion of your work, what would it be and why?

Damn this is hard. Can I say two? Because I really can't say just one. I use the artistic rights and say two: Turmion Kätilöt - U.S.C.H! and Emilie Autumn - Fight Like a Girl.

How has Finland influenced you and your career?

I think the biggest influence has been the Finnish metal music. I like to think that I found myself when I was around 12 - that's when Nightwish came to my life. I've thought many times, what kind of person would I be without them. I also started to find my style then. And I need to mention other Finnish band too which influenced me later and still does: Turmion Kätilöt. These two are just pure gold and give me the endless inspiration!

Do you have any rituals you do before you start your creative process for a new project, to get your mind and energy in the right place?

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Makeup used to be my way to escape my anxiety, so if that's the case, it doesn't require anything. Nowadays I like to write ideas down when I get them, I have a specific notebook for that. There's makeup looks, ideas for burlesque acts/costumes and basicly anything. If I have an idea for what kind of look I'd like to create, I play music that fits the mood and just start to paint my face. I'd say that the music still plays huge part on everything I do.

What’s a typical day for you?

I can't study or work currently, so I basicly just try to do what feels good. This is also good time for me to express myself and be as active on social media as I can and also try to figure out where I want to go when I'm ready.

Coffee or tea?

Coffee! With sweeteners and oat milk. Every day, thanks.

What are some of your goals for 2017?

Be less hard on myself, do more burlesque, do more interesting makeup looks!

What makes you happy?

My family and friends. Being able to express myself through makeup and clothing. Helping someone close to me (and seeing it really mattered). Glitter. Beautiful things. New tattoos. Good music. Burlesque. Being satisfied with my own work. Nightwish. Performing. And now I need to start thinking if there's some more, so I guess it's ok to leave it there.

Any closing comments?

I want to mention that even tho I spoke mostly about style etc., the most important thing is what's inside. Be good to others, appreciate them and remember to compliment and say thank you. That's the key to happiness. Have a wonderful 2017! xx
