Tagging or graffiti is often seen as a form of disobedience. Growing up, we're told only to mark things that are meant to be marked and which belong to us. Obviously, this never works. aside from the profanities and gossip seen written in sharpies on bathroom stalls, street art and graffiti has recently gained traction in becoming an increasingly respected art form. With these photographs, I wanted to explore the subtle aggression and tiny outbursts of self expression contained in doodles, markings, and tags found around my school. Being an art school, graffiti is less frowned upon here, however, I wanted to document the catharsis achieved through the nonetheless rebellious act of drawing upon surfaces which we are not supposed to mark.
