These photos serve as a comparative study. I chose the colorful sequined background to imitate glamorous and highly-stylized studio photography commonly used for commercial models. By using cuts of fruit, I wanted the photos to evoke the fragility of the physical state of our bodies. After photographing the fresh fruits, I let them rot, but I opted not to photograph the results of the decay. This exercise in patience and the emptiness of letting the subject turn to waste intentionally allowed me to understand the vulnerability of exposing oneself for a photograph. as well, when returning to the original photographs, I held a deeper understanding for the timeless quality of photography and the immense power that comes with the ability to stop and record a moment in time.
