Could you introduce yourself?

What’s your life philosophy? How do you try to apply that to your work?

Well I guess you could say my outlook on “life” is rather morbid. But to make things short and sweet in my opinion life’s all about finding yourself, being ok with that person, and progressing. I try to apply that message into if not all most of my songs.

Could you tell us the story behind your name? How did it end up being DEVILGOD?

Sure, I’m a Gemini (sign of the twins) and also two personalities. I wanted to give myself a name that represented what I talk about in my music and also how I carry myself as a person. So what’s better than combining the greatest powers of divine energies? light and dark

What attracted you the most about the underground hip-hop scene? Have you experimented with other genres as well?

I’ve always been a big fan of music in general, especially the indie/underground side. Anyway, the underground scene started calling me when I was about 19. I started performing at shows and gaining respect from local venues as well as other artists. After my hometown (IE) had nothing else to offer me I moved out to Los Angles where it’s a whole new monster... if I’m not out working/networking I stay locked away in my apartment writing music (laughs) but ultimately the underground scene attracted me because I feel like it’s where you have the most freedom as a artist. Not really experienced in other genres of music but I like to think of myself as a chameleon and can adapt to any style that gets thrown at you Scott, love you David... (David Bowie, Scott Weiland)

Could you tell us about your latest track, "AllMyIdolsAreDead"? What was something you learned about your own musical direction while working on this track and music video?

The song is somewhat old, the video's new. I wrote “AllMyIdolsAreDead” when I moved into my first apartment almost 2 years ago. Money’s a bit tight right now so I don’t have the budget to be cranking out videos as much as I’d like to but as soon as I do, you're all FUCKED! Concept of the video was pretty much me selling my soul, or whatever’s left of it, so I can be rich and famous...not really...but the title explains itself...all my idols are truly dead and I felt like I had to write about it. Honestly this video was a huge milestone in my career because it showed me my path and where I’m going to take all of should be very interesting.

Switching gears a bit, how does fashion influence your music? Could you express to us what style means to you?

Style is everything. From the way you deliver the lyrics you write down to the shoes on your feet. You don’t need to be rich to have style or be fashionable. I get all of my clothes at goodwill and getting lucky at thrift shops. “Style” can mean a lot of things to different people but to me it’s about finding articles of clothing that make you feel good. Doesn't matter the brand or if it’s made specifically for women. If I like it ima fuckin wear it!

What do you want listeners to feel when they listen to your work?

I want them to feel like they aren’t alone. A lot of the things I touch on are personal and it’s always been that way. I feel like I have a voice for the true outcasts in the world (not the hipsters that think being depressed is cool, cause it’s not) but the kids and adults that don’t feel like they belong anywhere. I want people to feel like they matter. This world is so full of hatred, people are mistreated for the color of their skin and even sexual preference. None of that matters to me. Fuck conforming, fuck working for someone else, find your passion, get motivated and put in the hours!!! Sorry, think I got a bit off track there...I just want people to FEEL SOMETHING.

Could you walk us through your version of a perfect day?

Ahhhhh... I can feel it now... I wake up, it’s cold and it will be cold all day and night. Even though the suns out it’s still cold enough to layer up and walk around. I get up out of bed, make tea then listen to The Cure while I wash my ass in the shower. Proceed to work on music, write, create, imagine, target, go for session is booked and I’m on my way...spend several hours in the studio working on whatever it is I need to work on for that day then I leave...shows are booked, merch is selling, the fans are happy...I’m busy...I go home to all my books and choose one to my liking.... lay down, read, tv, lights out... oh I’d also like to add I’d be smoking a ton of pot and ordering vegan burritos off postmates...

What are a few of your goals for the upcoming year?

More music videos, more music, more EVERYTHING, I can’t get enough!!! 2018 is the year for all the hard working, unique, artists to come together and CREATE!!! But that probably won’t happen sooooooo I guess the goal is to just keep grinding, progressing, and most importantly LEARNING. We can never stop doing that and I think some of these artists get so big that they forget the basics...

What makes you happy?

People who support my music, cold weather, smoking dope, my little sister, Viceland, the first shit in the morning when you don’t even have to wipe...but you still should...
